What is NEXUS?
NEXUS is a global movement of 5,000+ young people from over 70 countries working to increase and improve philanthropy and social change. We work to unite next gen philanthropists (aged 18-45), emerging young social entrepreneurs, impact investors and allies to catalyse new leadership and accelerate solutions to the world’s greatest social problems.
Founded in 2011, and convened in partnership with the United Nations, NEXUS puts the hope and promise of young people on the world stage by bringing members together at NEXUS summits and events around the world for dialogue, education, and collaborative problem-solving. The flagship NEXUS annual conference in New York attracts over 600 young people with a combined net worth of $100 billion+. To find out more about NEXUS Global, click here.
NEXUS Australia
NEXUS Australia was seeded in 2013 thanks to a collaboration between the Foundation for Young Australians and leading Australian philanthropists. Since then, we have connected the intellectual, creative, financial and social capital of hundreds of members to lead social change through NEXUS Australia Summits, Salons and Breakfast Clubs.
The NEXUS Australia Committee consists of 12 volunteer committee members, currently structurally hosted and supported by partner, Australian Progress, and auspiced by partner, Philanthropy Australia. NEXUS Australia continues to be underpinned by valued philanthropic and corporate funding partners.
NEXUS Australia aims to build this community by catalysing a change in philanthropic culture amongst emerging philanthropists by sharing best practice in impact-focused philanthropy and investment and promoting bolder projects for social and environmental change.
Why we need NEXUS
Recent decades have seen the intensification of social and environmental challenges at national and global levels.
In order to address these challenges, bold, effective and innovative solutions must be identified and resourced.
Income inequality is growing, and we are on the precipice of the largest intergenerational transfer of wealth in history.
Yet there are few spaces where next generation philanthropists, impact investors and social changemakers can come together to tackle this problem and build a better tomorrow.
